This retreat is suitable for beginning and more advanced meditators. The practice will progress from cultivating mental tranquility with mindfulness of breathing meditation to developing vipassana, the Buddhist term for ongoing awareness of the changing nature of mind states, with the goal of reducing distress and developing a more joyful engagement with life, no matter what the circumstances might be. The teacher has been actively practicing vipassana since 1982, and brings a rich mixture of Eastern and Western psychology to his teaching.

Deerhaven Retreat Information There are 12 motel room units with private baths (some are handicap accessible). There are additional dormitories with bunk beds that sleep up to 20 people with a shared bath. All vegetarian meals are included in registration fee. Space is limited to 20 participants. The retreat begins at 5 pm Sunday, October 24 after supper and ends with lunch on Sunday, October 31. Call 407-339-5444 or email Peter@orlandoinsight.org for more information. The fee is $400. Please send a deposit of $150 by Sept. 24th to ensure attendance. Deposit is non-refundable after Oct. 15. We are prepared to provide some fee reduction; for further information contact Peter.

In the Buddhist tradition, the teacher does not charge for the teaching. At the end of the retreat, students can gift the teacher as they see fit, a gesture called dana.
